It's Summer Time

Grrrr it's been awhile since I have updated my blog. I've been busy chewing, playing and sleeping so I guess that is a good excuse. I have also attended a few dog events trying to find my furever family. Can you believe they haven't found me yet? I know, me neither.

Here is a picture to show how tired I was at WoofStock in Suwanee, GA back in May. Wow, it was really hot and I just had leg surgery a few days earlier. I do pretty well at these events because my sisters, who are also up for adoption, are there to give me support.

I'll be attending an event in Alpharetta, GA tomorrow. It's at a horse (whatever that is) arena so I might get to meet a lot of new animals. I hope my furever family finds me there!

I went to Home Depot

I need to go on a lot of adventures to socialize more with the BIG world. I get pretty scared about new places. So I really need to take it slow and be in a safe environment to really help me grow in life.

My foster mommy and daddy needed to go to Home Depot. They thought it would be a good idea to take me along. I was excited to get my harness and leash on, but again had no idea where we were going or what we were doing. Foster mommy brought along yummy string cheese to try and help me along the way. It didn't work at first because I was so scared. There was a loud road nearby so I was held most of the time. My little heart was just beating hard.

We went into the plant area only. I saw new people, but didn't want to interact with them. I was pretty shocked by the whole situation. I didn't want to sniff or walk.

By the time we finished shopping I was willing to take cheese and even walked (slowly) all the way back to the car. I am such a super star when I want to be.

Hopefully the next time I get to go get plants I won't be as scared. Until the next adventure...

The RAT TERRIER JAMBOREE and ME

So after my right leg surgery I got to go to a Rat Terrier Jamboree in Sweetwater, TN. I had no idea what this was about either and wasn't sure it would be fun considering my last car ride was to get my leg cut open. Me, foster mommy, Aunt T, my sissy Vienna and Curly all loaded up in a van and off we went North.

I wasn't feeling really good, but I did as best I could considering the situation. Everyone gave me special attention which I hated, NOT! I got to stay at a nice house and have a backyard to stretch my legs. It was a really nice place to stay and recover.

While at the Jamboree I got to meet new people, dogs and hang with my sisters Vienna and Victoria whom I love dearly. When I see them I get all excited and want to love on them. They feel the same about lil me.

I had a few nights where I felt I did too much, but the next day I was ready to go again. I am tough.

I had an excellent time regardless of my leg and hope my new family, where ever they are will take me next year when I can have fun.

A Lot of Catch Up Work To Do

I have to get my blog caught up so I thought I would try to get that done tonight. I've been so busy it's hard to please my fans. Woof woof!

A few weeks ago I had surgery on my right hind leg to fix my luxatting patella, whatever that is. All I know is it made my leg hurt and I had to hold it up a lot. I could run and do everything pretty normal, but it needed fixing. A really great vet doctor man, Dr. Whittle, gifted me the surgery and the last 2 weeks I have been healing.

I had no idea what was going on. My foster mommy dropped me off at Aunt Foster Terry's house and then she took me to the vet...wham I was knocked out and woke up with a cone on my head and my leg hurt more than before. Ouchie.

The next day Aunt T and foster mommy picked me up and took me to something called a Rat Terrier Jamboree in Sweetwater, TN. More about that later.

Today it's been 13 days since my surgery. Tomorrow I go to get the last 4 staples pulled out. I pulled one of them mostly out myself and the doctor said I didn't need it and took it out last week. I hope this doesn't hurt my little leg. I have been hopping a bit the last few days, but hopefully it's nothing serious.

I will get my left hind leg fixed up in about 2 more weeks and start all over with that cone on my head and ouchie leg. Man oh man I can't wait til this silly surgery stuff is over. I have come so far and after this I will be a super healthy boy I think.

I'll keep you posted on my other leg and the progress with my right leg as time goes on.

To PetSmart We Go!

I go to a place called PetSmart about once a month. I get to have lots of treats, cuddles and attention. I also get to hang with other dogs and my 2 sisters. They are pretty excited to see me because I am the best brother they ever had!

I've made friends with many new people including responsible kids. The little bitty kids kinda freak me out because they move quickly, so I probably wouldn't be okay living with them because I'd be scared. Even when I am scared I don't try to bite, but I do hide and become a pancake.

These meet & greet events really help me come out of my shell and know the big world I live in isn't as scary as I once thought. The more I get to experience things like this the better.

I Enjoy the Outdoors

I have found that the backyard is a great place to let loose. At first I was a bit overwhelmed with the size of his place, but you wouldn't know it today.

I pounce around the yard sniffing out things exploring. I've also been practicing "potty outside". My foster mom get's all excited when I poo or pee out there. It's funny to watch her and hear her voice go really high. She even sometimes gives me treats for doing a good job. I love that part.

When I first came into foster care I knew to go potty outside, but needed a lot of practice to start to understand I should do that ALL the time. I am about 85% the way there and continue to excel the more my foster mom prompts me to go outside.

I do know how to use our dog door, but I like to make my foster mom work and give me treats for doing it while she is looking. I need to be treated like a pup who should be kept on a schedule. For example soon after I eat, play hard or wake up I should try to go potty outside.

I don't understand if I do have an accident inside and a human over reacts by barking loudly. It's best to just clean up after me and take me out side to I know I really should have done that out there. I'll get even better as time goes on and I get to practice. I'm pretty sure human babies take a lot of time to learn thing gig, too.

One of My Favorite Things

I just love to chew! Here I am chewing a nummy bully stick from Best Bully Sticks. This and a big knuckle bone are my favorite things to chew. It is a habit that I need to curb by always chewing on the right things. The wrong things are so very tempting like blankets, clothing and I've toyed with the idea of cords.

Since I am still a puppy dude at heart I need to have a mommy and/or daddy who will monitor me at all times so I don't get myself in trouble. I'm getting better as I mature and having the right things to chew really helps. It does take me quite some time to chew a bully stick and it's a great way to keep me busy.

I also really like tennis balls and will go get one for you if you'd like. Then I like to give it a really short hair cut. Tee hee.
